Retro Edit: A nostalgic at a retro Cooroy Shack time has forgotten
/One of the things I love about working in the real estate industry is the opportunity to see so many stunning architecturally designed high-end homes. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing new builds that are inspiring, creative and pushing the boundaries, but every so often, we stumble upon a little gem that transports you to another time and place.
Introducing: The Retro Shack. A little peach of property built in the 1940’s that time has forgotten.
I don’t know if it was the home itself or simply the quiet stillness of the street, but this property brought memories flooding back of running through the sprinkler, swinging on the clothesline, and riding my bike until it was too dark to see. I could almost hear the distant bell of the Home Ice Cream truck just a few blocks away.
The moment you step inside this sweet little home you can just feel the heart and soul of the house. Stories embedded in every little creak of the floor boards, every nick in the wall, and tears in the lino. With funky pastel colours and nana-style flower pattern carpet - you can’t help but fall in love with this place!
As the sun slowly sets over the Hills Hoist, it’s not long before I find myself chatting with a friendly neighbour leaning on the fence. As he points to each house and shows me where his friends live and who has lived where, I’m once again filled with a deep sense of community and nostalgia for a simpler life.
Some may see this property and think about tearing it down, and there will come a time when these styles of properties are a thing of the past, replaced with a new kind of retro. But my hope is that this little home will capture the heart of a lovely buyer, allowing it to stand long enough to create more cherished memories.
What a great little place in the heart of Cooroy!
